Did Women come to the well in silence? The fountain of life giving water filled with beauty, wonder and love for the soul is their offering today.
St Paul’s Anglican Church on Calle Cardo will present Women in Icons, a rare opportunity to spend time with Mary Jane Miller. She is a full time resident of San Miguel who has 20 years experience creating classic iconography. She will speak, teach and show new work and images reflecting her latest insights on women. Her collection of work illustrates women’s voices and their lasting effect in the church and in religious art. Classic iconography offers a unique window into church tradition.
A Talk and Slide show
In her talk, Mary Jane Miller will focus on the lesser known voices in the Bible and iconography. The slideshow will feature Miller’s iconic Mary Collection followed by her unorthodox renovation of an abandoned chapel while living on a Greek island with her husband for most of 2015. Miller’s discussions are lively, provocative and often thought provoking. After 20 years in an art form full of symbols. Mary Jane Miller will surely challenge the listeners to think of women in iconographic tradition. Miller has great humor as she encourages more study and questioning into the lives of Women who are rarely noticed but significant impact in history.
