The gospel does not give any details as what the conversation could have been with the Woman at the Well Story.
” He told me all that I ever did” John 4 :39
I can imagine meeting someone like Christ one day who could really see me and help me see myself as well as the divine freedom from where I have come. The Woman at the Well Story inspires the icon and prompts Christ‘s teachings with women. We are asked to turn from any dissolution of our self which can and does trap our actions. The condemnations we make of others and those made of us spark this long conversation with Christ at the well. She becomes an authoritative person because of this encounter. The actual moment of this encounter speaks of transformation and turns this woman into a Disciple; she is informed and sent by Christ.
She becomes disciple, partner and evangelist.
Having a relationship with Jesus, as this woman may have had, reminds me there is an eyewitness in this God who continues to walk among us. According to the Orthodox Bible, the Sumarian woman becomes the first woman to testify to the advent of Christ. She was given the name of Photini,”the enlightened one” she went to Carthage with her two sons and 5 daughters to preach the His gospel. She was later martyred. It also says Photini is the same Sumarian at the well, the same well she was later thrown into. good story? a page form a book i am writing about the icon, the encounter with the Woman at the Well Story.
