The gospel does not give any details as what the conversation could have been.
I can imagine meeting someone like Christ one day who could really see me and help me see myself as well as the divine freedom from where I have come. The conversation above inspires the icon and prompts us with Christ‘s teachings away from dissolution which can and does trap our actions and the condemnations we make of others. The actual moment this encounter speaks of transforms this woman into a Disciple; she is informed and sent by Christ. She becomes an authoritative person because of this encounter.
She becomes disciple, partner and evangelist.
Having a relationship with Jesus, as this woman may have had, reminds me there is an eyewitness in this God who continues to walk among us. According to the Orthodox Bible, The Sumarian woman becomes the first woman to testify to the advent of Christ. she was given the name of Photini,”the enlightened one” she went to Carthage with her two sons and 5 daughters to preach the His gospel and was later martyred. It also says Photini is the same Sumarian at the well, the same well she was later thrown into. good story? a page form a book i am writing about the icon, the encounter at the well.
