Mary of Tenderness, The Hodegitria or Mary of the Sign, each of them offers a unique manifestation of the binding force that keeps the universe together; love.
The beauty that is a manifested in the heart of a mother’s love for her child is universal, and marks the beginnings of our journey. I had the misfortune of my parents both dyeing in a plane crash when I was twelve. I grew up with a shortened small memory of that kind of parental love. The idea of complete tenderness and support is what I always believed other children had from their mothers.
I realize now, after painting many images of Mary, few of us have had such idyllic relationships. I know you can never have enough love, it is like a drug and can heal every injury and fear. So do the best to love yourself, your neighbor and God, (who ever that is). These three images of Mary remind me I am not alone and the potential to love is everywhere waiting to be discovered, offered and received.
