My contemporary icon paintings do not always come from a traditional or inspired doctrine. I have been given the desire to paint, and at times feel like a slave to it. The icons picked me! The work explores both contemporary life and traditional image using the egg tempera technique and 100% gold leaf.
Meditation, Iconography, God, and Egg Tempera have all taught me about ones intimate relationship with the creator and creation. Forty years ago there were very few egg tempera courses. I invented and experimented with how to make egg tempera stick to the board, and explored mixing colors without an egg tempera recipe.
