About Me
Mary Jane Miller’s work draws on ancient icon painting techniques to reflect on insights and inner spiritual well-being. Her dedication and lifestyle further a journey steeped in spiritual expression. She believes that all life emanates from the unseen energy of God, expressed through color and formation in creation.
As a trailblazing female iconographer, she endeavors to guide others in attuning to their own mysticism. She believes that Byzantine-style iconography has the potential to express humanity’s ongoing joy and beauty in the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment. The most impactful icons possess the ability to communicate a profound moment of stillness to any viewer, offering solace, revelation, connection, or healing.
While Miller humbly acknowledges her uncertainty regarding the lofty significance of the practice, she is certain of one thing: every time she immerses her brush in paint, a vibrant spiral of color and energy emerges. This spiral serves as a poignant reminder of eternity and the constant flux of existence. For her, witnessing this magnificent microcosm of paint unveils its life force and message. As she beautifully articulates, “Each brush stroke becomes liturgy, and each breath becomes divine if we awaken to it.” Thank you for listening. see PDF
