The man by the name of Jesus was consider to be a great spiritual teacher. These days anyone attempting to live literally and completely by the precepts set forth by Jesus would be considered a Nut! (consider the ideas; Thou shall not kill or Be not afraid or, I live in you!). That alone would make you a Great Saints.
The Sermon on the Mount has been called the most superlative teaching of human ethics ever uttered by an individual. The text is straight forward and easily understood. The precepts behind manifestos about “equal rights” are actually the result of those same teachings. Problems around the globe indicate few people manage to exemplify these great and saintly qualities. Actually today Athletes, Musicians, Actors, and Political Figures appear to be the ‘ Great Saints’ . We follow their activities, draw conclusions based on their behavior and invest a great deal of time entertaining ourselves with their success. These great saints and their jobs are not all together that complicated or sacrificial, few of them intentionally teach morality or service of any kind. Why should modern ‘Great Saints’ encourage us with ideas like, “The greatest among you, aught to be the servant’—“If you love your life you will loose it”?
If not Great Saints then perhaps Aliens can.
Saintly Jesus produced one of three reactions; hatred, terror, or adoration during his short three documented years. If you met an alien on the path you might experience one of these same three reactions; hatred, terror or adoration. I like to think those with greater power do transform us by their holy eccentricity, asking us to believe, to have faith, to be better than we could imagine. Christ had the power of God behind him, what would the Aliens have behind them?
Imagine you stumble into a non human entity, an alien creature who is not actually on our material plane, (a ‘Jesus Christ type’ for example) their mind capacity having greater power than your own.
An alien presence would stimulate our natural and predicable hatred, terror, or adoration of the unusual and uncharted. The future as we know it would be thrown into question and perhaps become very frightening.
Peace and commonality have not been historically humanities first reaction to new civilizations all of which have been from earth. Imagine ones arriving from outer space or another dimension. Our current state of psychic development can hardly distinguish between the demon and the ally, take a look at the news and advertising and then look at the reaction of it’s followers. Thinking and logic are not our strong suit. Distinguishing an alien saint from a monster may not be so easy.
This Feels Very Eccentric, just bare with me.
I have no idea how many people have had deep experiences with prayer or when something shifts in the soul leaving a big open ended unknown. You can’t help but shake your head saying, “WOW, I know nothing and am known by everything”.
I want to believe the aliens will be like new teachers, a fortifying hand-hold for our future. We might see them in our sky and on Earth, arriving unexpectedly in ships, on the news or in my dreams. Without a doubt it will be a unique cultural shock in mankind’s history. We would be forced to abandon many certitudes and beliefs instantly. One simple conclusive visual contact would modify our understanding of life as we know it forever. We can hope to be invited to collaborate with their technical and spiritual evolution, discovering new qualities unknown to us in the universe and its magnificent design. There would be nothing untouched by this new influence, we would be forced to rethink everything and seek new solutions for reforming our society, technology, business, culture, religion, etc. Humankind would become a single species vulnerable and hopefully willing to learn from this new “unknown” “other”. Like I said, we each will choose; hatred, terror, or adoration.
Between Two Unknowns
If you cerebrate the effect Christ and all religious figures have had on humanity, the presence of aliens would take us outside into another whole dimension, radically changing the scale of our perception of BEING HUMAN. Religion asks us to believe in the unknown and many of us do, what if the new unknown is from another Galaxy! The thing is, apparently we have not learned to live in peace or share well from our great saintly leaders. They have not taught us to handle mystery, shock and awe at the wonder of life. The shock of Aliens may open us up in a ways we have never experienced. One mind at a time.
If the aliens have been here for quite some time, it seems logical to me they have absolute respect for our ignorance as well as our grace. Therefore, in the extreme event we befriend them and welcome them as teachers instead of advisories, they would in turn allow us to decide for ourselves what is best for our external and inner well-being. (like Christ offering new information without any demands) They would leave it to each individual to step up or reject “newness”. In my experience every spiritual teacher asks us to let go of the past and let the unknown mystery teach. In that order.
I say, why wait for an Alien which may never come, better imagine we can change from within by focusing the mind and opening the heart without fear… If we can do it for an alien, we can do it for each other.
