Three difficult words.
Thinking about the easy Hypocrisy and Prejudice , what we say is what we believe? ” Be not concerned for tomorrow”, “take only your sandals and a staff” or “forgive 70 times 70”. We try very hard to live up to “christian” ideals, but in reality we rationalize and admit we cannot do these things because we tend to protect ourselves first, Who else will?
Why are churches not open 24 hours a day?
My thought is, I do not want to leave MY door open 24 hours but why can’t the church I belong to be a better place of refuge and openness as an example to the community? Perhaps we do not leave them open because of the rampant distrust going on. When did stealing sacred object get to be in vogue, the answer is, when antique stores got popular.
We invade other nations while on our US Dollar is written “In God we Trust”. We are the safest nation but are we the most trusting? We think Donald Trump is going to save us, lead us and share his wealth of ideas so we will be a strong nation again. How can he save us when we are already saved! We live in the USA, one of the most privileged nations in the world. And Where is he going to lead us? We are supposedly led by our terrific access to education, we can read and write and have computers in the library and at home, while in Most others nations there is scarcity of everything especially education. Every mind in this nation can lead itself, we know what is right and wrong. Remember we are the greatest nation in the World! And, How will he share his ideas? We have great ideas we have forgotten them, see the movie by Michael More, Who Will America Invade Next? He says, “We have great ideas other nations are using!”
Who is not in our tribe?
We have come to hate the christian right, and greedy corporate institutions who are them. But those in power are the same ones to get rid of the ten commandments and christian prayer in schools. Our foundation is primarily a christian nation, OOPPS. New ager’s are adopting Buddhism. Great, I love the freedom I have a hard time with the Hypocrisy and Prejudice.
We say we love inclusiveness in our intercultural country of immigrants. Our Belief and Love of Capitalism clash loudly when there is so much bias and dis-accord to be found in us individually. Who are we are becoming and what do we want to stand for? Yea, I know, belief and capitalism are a difficult overlap, I wander how are we each handling it these days. We DO know right from wrong. Why do we “turn the other cheek” when there is such horror, destruction and decimation happening in our families, institutions, banking, military and government? We “like” facebook and silly picture of cats and bears in hammocks. I love them too. But stop turning your cheek and take time to pay attention to the Hypocrisy and Prejudice inside each of us. We are allowing our justification of these two words at a great and frightening cost.
Make peace with someone today and sleep well tonight.
Do not “ turn the other cheek” unless it is to help, nurture, educate or love someone. Sorry for the rant, this all came to me while eating my Cheerios this morning, ill have to stop buying them !
Not so Easy, Hypocrisy and Prejudice
