Greta Thunberg walked out of school in August 2018, she began a Friday strikes in front of the Swedish parliament. She was calling for action against climate change, she has been joined by millions of young people around the world. The youth of the world call on the adult population to become aware of Climate Change for the Future since it threatens them and future generations. The voices of millions around the world urge us saying, Our house is on fire — let’s act like it.
Young people lead the climate strikes around the world. Adults must join in too. The Climate Strike movements, and their international friends and allies are calling for a global awareness. Workers everywhere: are ask us to walk away and resist systems that are destroying our planet. Plastic alone is threatening every shoreline, the survival of millions of people, plants, and animals. The makers of Plastic have know about its indestructible, ageless presence since 1973 and they still want us to buy a bottle of water because we might get thirsty in one hour. We believe the water they sell us is Good! but at what cost to the environment. They are saying the average person ingests one credit cards worth of plastic every month!! Through the fish, meat, storage in plastic, over heated plastic in the air, etc.
Greta does not feel like we have a choice: it’s been years of talking, countless negotiations, empty deals on climate change and fossil fuel companies being given free rides to drill beneath our soils and burn away our futures for their profit. Politicians and fossil fuel companies have known about climate change for decades. They have willingly handed over their responsibility for our future to profiteers whose search for quick cash threatens our very existence. This crisis is very real, and it cannot be ignored any longer.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
Once again, youthful voices are being heard on the streets. They feel adults haven’t quite understood that young people cannot hold off the climate crisis. Sorry if this is inconvenient for adults to think about Climate Change in the Future. It is not going away. This effort is not a single-generations job. It’s humanity’s job. Greta says, “We young people can contribute to a larger fight and that can make a huge difference. We can’t do this with you and everyone you know”. ABOUT GRETA
Step up and out of your comfort zone for our climate. Let’s all join together, with your neighbors, co-workers, friends, family and go out on to the streets to make your voices heard and make this a turning point in our history.
During the French revolution, mothers flooded the streets for their children. Today we children are fighting for ourselves, but so many of our parents are busy discussing whether our grades are good, or a new diet or what happened in the Game of Thrones finale – while the planet burns.
Emissions must drop rapidly – so that by the time we are in our mid- and late-20s we are living in a completely transformed world.
To change everything, we need everyone. It is time for all of us to unleash mass resistance – we have shown that collective action does work. We need to escalate the pressure to make sure that change happens, and we must escalate together.
If we care, we must do more than say we care. We must act. Many people say to me “I Know , I Know” I say then what small effort have you made,, what change is valuable and have you had those difficult conversations with those who do not listen?
Planet Earth is counting on you.
