We are all being alive on three levels, whether or not we realize it. The body is the most familiar level; you experience the physical plane, like an animal getting its needs met. The second level is the mind which knows identity, emotions and intellect, where the ego hangs out and overrides the body. Finally, the third level is the light of spirit, rays which illuminate and unite every moment, my favorite but also the most elusive. Being alive on three levels means there will be overlaps.

This triad relationship is acting upon us all the time. Typically, being alive means some of us feel swamped some days, out of control, lonely on a crowded planet, stalked and adrift from our purpose and source. There is so much to ignore, to take part, to defend, to tolerate, etc. We experience being alive only a small percentage of the day and that is overwhelming. Many of us are haunted by a desire for more, but more of what? The only way to identify the ‘more of What’ is to slow down. That is when we realize everything is just as it should be, and being alive is enough. It is Bliss.
Alive and Younger
The feeling of being disconnected was ever present. I used to imagine I was an aspiring individual, independent and able to control and know reality. Folly! I tried being alive in the body where fitness was the prize, and then I tried to being alive in the mind of learning and discipline. Nothing satisfied me for long, I was truncated between body and mind, shifting always in both directions like smoke in the wind. Imagined everyone else had it together and they were not affected by environment, health, emotions, family, expectations, etc. I convinced myself I would have it together at age 35, then I moved it to 45 and now I have given in. Being alive on three levels is like trying to control smoke and the wind which moves it.
The third level being alive on three levels is light.
I knew it in theory but could never be sure what being alive in the light was or where it came from. Now at 59, I say to myself, “don’t give up, stay awake, it is just about to change”. I know this because every second holds the key to rest and complete stillness. Just stop! Mediation has helped me realize being alive and in the light is worth paying attention to. The mind and body sneak into your consciousness with every breath. We cannot that. However we can differ to observing, and focus no being alive. It does not take part, or judge, or condemn any of it, and the breath will always be there. There is no where to get to. Being alive happens on three levels, and lived through all three windows. Our three levels become interchangeable and complete.
